MBS Mountainboards is proud to present the 2008 US Open Mountainboarding Championships returning to Snowmass Village, Colorado on July 24-26 for the sixth consecutive year. The nations largest mountainboard competition and the sport's longest running championships features the best dirtboard riders from across the nation competing for cash and prizes in epic Mass Start Downhill, DirtBoarderCross and DirtFreestyle events. The Eric Smith Cup will be awarded to the overall champion in the mens pro division. The 2005, 2006 & 2007 events were filmed by JSP TV in association with Paul Mitchell for a 30 minute TV show that were televised on Altitude network and Comcast Entertainment TV, and plans are in the works once again to produce a top notch event in 2008 featuring the best riders in the sport including 7 time national champion Jason Lee, 2 time US Open Champion Jereme Leafe and current US Open champion Leon Robbins battling it out for the title along with Akoni Kama and many others. Boardercross or DBX consists of heats of four mountainboarders charging
head to head out of the drop gates and wheel to wheel down Snowmass
Ski Area’s custom-built world class dirt course. The course features
rollers, bermed turns and tabletop jumps. In DirtFreestyle the
riders launch off of multiple dirt jumps and bust huge aerials, while
being judged on style, technique, difficulty
and volume of their tricks. The action starts July 24th with the return
of the Camp Aspen/Snowmass Mountainboard Camp at Snowmass Ski
Area featuring coaching from top pro riders Jereme Leafe, Kody Stewart,
and Akoni Kama, along with Camp Snowmass' expert coaches, and a
free slope side concert will end a day of dirt ripping action. July 25th
is qualifying day with Mass Start Downhill action Friday features
high-speed DBX racing and DirtFreestyle action all day.
Saturday is finals day for the competition with awards ceremonies
and parties in Snowmass
Village throughout the evening. In addition to the all of the mountainboarding action
the weekend features FREE
live music Fanny Hill, lodging packages at Snowmass Mountain Chalet, a
special mountainboard camp, and also features lift access at
Snowmass Ski Area for hiking, mountainbiking, disc golf, paint
ball, kids’ activities, and after hours video parties at bars and restaurants
at the Snowmass Village Mall and much, much more. Come join us for five days of Mountainboarding action, music, food and fun
